Precautions

This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener that is broken down into phenylalanine in the body, so it should not be used by patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder. Patients with hypersensitivity reactions to the components of this medication or to beta-lactam antibiotics should not be given this drug, and patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should also avoid it due to the risk of rash. Patients who have had hepatic dysfunction or jaundice due to this medication or penicillin previously should not use it as they are at risk of recurrence. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with impaired liver or kidney function as it may worsen liver function or increase blood concentration. Patients with allergies, elderly patients, or those in poor overall condition should also be administered this drug cautiously. Gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur; if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor immediately. Long-term use may lead to increased liver enzymes or symptoms of hepatitis and jaundice, so liver function tests are necessary during prolonged treatment, especially in elderly or male patients. Rarely, skin rashes, itching, or severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, and if a rash develops, administration should be discontinued immediately. This medication has been rarely reported to cause blood dyscrasia, anemia, or thrombocytopenia, so if abnormal symptoms occur, tests may be required. Central nervous system disturbances such as anxiety, confusion, or seizures may occur, particularly in patients with reduced kidney function or during high-dose administration. Acute renal failure or nephritis may also occur; therefore, kidney function should be checked regularly during treatment. Long-term use may result in the development of resistant bacteria, so it is important to administer the drug for the shortest necessary period. Women in early pregnancy or during pregnancy should use this medication cautiously, and care should be taken during breastfeeding as adverse reactions may occur in infants. Use is not recommended in children, especially neonates under 2 months, as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may experience more adverse reactions due to decreased body function, so dosages and intervals should be adjusted, and close monitoring is necessary. This medication may affect the results of some clinical tests, so it is important to inform medical personnel of its use at the time of testing. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal, and central nervous system disturbances may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. The storage temperature should be suitable in a cool place between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius.
