Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and belongs to the penicillin class, and should not be administered to patients with specific allergic reactions. Particularly, patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to its ingredients or to penicillin and cephalosporin medications may experience serious allergic reactions, and thus should not use it. Additionally, patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at a higher risk of side effects such as rashes, and caution should be exercised. Patients with hepatic dysfunction should also use this medication cautiously as liver dysfunction may recur upon administration. Patients with impaired liver function or severe renal impairment may have increased drug concentration, so careful monitoring of dosing intervals is necessary. Patients with allergic predisposition or gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea may not absorb the drug properly; caution should be exercised. This drug can cause various gastrointestinal side effects, with diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting being common, and at times serious colitis may occur, so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised if symptoms appear. Abnormal liver function is also reported not infrequently, especially in older adults and males, hence regular liver function tests are recommended. Skin reactions such as rashes, itching, and in severe cases, serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, and if such symptoms arise, immediate discontinuation of the medication is necessary. It may affect the blood, leading to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia, necessitating testing if abnormal symptoms are observed. Symptoms of central nervous system disturbances, such as anxiety, confusion, and seizures, may occur rarely, and healthcare providers should be informed if symptoms develop. Renal function may deteriorate, so regular renal function tests should be conducted and treatment should be stopped if any signs of abnormalities appear. Using antibiotics may lead to drug-resistant bacteria, so they should only be used for the necessary duration, and careful observation of infection symptoms and conditions should be maintained during prolonged use. This drug may interact with other medications, particularly anticoagulants, some antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, so caution is required during co-administration, and consultation with a physician or pharmacist is necessary. Women in early pregnancy should avoid using this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should consult before use as side effects may appear in the infant. Children are only recommended to use this medication if they are 12 years or older or weigh more than 40 kg, and elderly patients should use it carefully with adjustments of dosage and intervals due to diminished body functions increasing the risk of side effects. During the administration of this medication, liver function, renal function, and blood tests should be performed regularly, and healthcare professionals should be notified immediately if any abnormal signs appear. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, renal failure or seizures may arise, necessitating immediate hospital visit. Finally, this drug should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and it should not be arbitrarily discontinued or dosage changed without a physician's instruction.
