Adult dose
As terbinafine, administer 125 mg once, twice daily, or 250 mg once daily. The duration of treatment varies by condition as follows: 1) Dermatophyte infections Tinea pedis (interdigital, plantar/moccasin type): 2–6 weeks Tinea corporis: 2–4 weeks Tinea cruris: 2–4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis Typically administered for 6 weeks to 3 months. If the infection is in the nails or relatively small toes, or in younger patients, the treatment duration may be shortened to less than 3 months. While 3 months is usually sufficient for nail infection treatment, some patients may require 6 months or longer. For patients with slow nail growth, treatment duration may be extended. 2. For children: Administered to children over 2 years of age. There is no experience with administration in children under 2 years, so it is not recommended. Tinea capitis: 4 weeks Tinea capitis mainly occurs in children. To prevent recurrence of infection, treatment must follow a regularly specified time frame. 1) Weight under 20 kg (under 5 years): 1 time 62.5 mg, once daily. Due to lack of experience, treatment should be decided by considering the benefits and risks. 2) Weight 20–40 kg (5-12 years): 1 time 125 mg, once daily. 3) Weight over 40 kg (over 12 years): 1 time 250 mg, once daily. 3. For patients with renal impairment Patients with a creatinine clearance of less than 50 mL/min should reduce the daily dose by half.

This medication is used for the treatment of dermatophyte infections such as tinea pedis, tinea corporis, and tinea cruris in adults, and is effective for tinea capitis in children. In other words, this medicine is used to improve fungal infections that occur in the skin and nails.

How to take

Adult dose

As terbinafine, administer 125 mg once, twice daily, or 250 mg once daily. Precautions

This medication should preferably not be used in patients with chronic or active liver disease. It is essential to confirm any liver disease before taking this medicine, and liver function tests should be conducted regularly before and during treatment. If symptoms of liver dysfunction occur, such as nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, pain in the upper right abdomen, jaundice, dark urine, or diarrhea, notify your doctor immediately and discontinue the medication. Furthermore, this medication can cause serious liver damage, such as liver failure, so if signs of liver damage appear, immediately stop taking it and undergo liver function tests. Patients who are allergic to this medication, have blood disorders, severe renal failure, are under 2 years of age, are breastfeeding, or have lactose intolerance should not take it. Patients with compromised kidney function, elderly individuals, underweight children, patients with psoriasis or systemic lupus erythematosus should use this medication with caution, and if serious skin reactions such as rashes occur, discontinue use immediately. Various side effects may occur while taking this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rashes, muscle pain, headaches, digestive disorders, mental changes, or visual impairments occur, consult with your healthcare provider. Caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness may occur, and interactions with other medications may take place, so it is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of all other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of taking this medication, and if breastfeeding, should discontinue nursing while on this medicine. Children and the elderly should take this medication with special care, and in case of overdose, symptoms such as headaches, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should be kept in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight at room temperature.
