This medication treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive reflux esophagitis, and is also used for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it is effective in alleviating symptoms in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It short-term treats upper gastrointestinal symptoms (pain, discomfort, burning sensation) due to the intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and helps treat and prevent gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers that may occur during continuous non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug intake. Moreover, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after preventing rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers. It is effectively used in the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
