(Oral: tablets) Adults: Administer pentoxifylline 400㎎ orally 2-3 times daily after meals with a small amount of liquid. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms. (Injection) 1. Intravenous injection: For adults, administer pentoxifylline 100㎎ daily by injection. With the patient lying down, inject slowly intravenously over at least 5 minutes, or administer intra-arterially if necessary. To assess the individual patient's response, it is preferable to initially administer 50㎎ diluted with normal saline to a total volume of 10㎖. 2. Intravenous infusion: Initially, mix 100㎎ daily with 250-500㎖ of infusion solution (normal saline, 5% fructose injection, etc.) and infuse intravenously over 90-180 minutes. Starting the following day, increase the daily dose by 50㎎ each day until it reaches 300㎎. For severe circulatory disorders, administer twice daily. 3. Intra-arterial injection: Using a motor-driven syringe, slowly inject 100-300㎎ daily, mixed with 20-50㎖ of normal saline, at a rate of 10㎎/min. 4. As an adjunct to intravenous injection or infusion, 100-200㎎ of the tablet may be administered. After symptoms improve, treatment may be continued by oral administration. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

It should be avoided in patients with acute myocardial infarction or severe bleeding, as well as in patients with extensive retinal hemorrhage. Patients currently taking a medication called ketorolac should not use this drug concomitantly. Caution is advised in patients with cardiac rhythm issues or low blood pressure, and in patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function. Patients with blood coagulation abnormalities or those taking anticoagulants should also be careful due to an increased risk of bleeding. Allergic symptoms such as itching, skin rashes, and hives may occur when using this drug, and in severe cases, dyspnea or shock may arise, necessitating immediate discontinuation and medical attention. Gastrointestinal side effects may include decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and in the cardiovascular system, dyspnea or swelling; rarely, chest pain or low blood pressure may occur. Abnormal blood reactions such as liver function abnormalities, bleeding, and thrombocytopenia have also been reported, so any symptoms should be promptly reported. Additionally, nervous system symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, insomnia, and vision problems, as well as respiratory symptoms like epistaxis and laryngitis may rarely occur. This drug should only be used in patients with clearly diagnosed cerebrovascular disease, and special care must be taken when administering it to patients with blood pressure above a certain level. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advisable for hypertensive patients taking this medication. Caution should also be exercised regarding interactions with other medications; the concomitant use of anticoagulants or platelet aggregation inhibitors may increase the risk of bleeding. When used together with diabetes medications, blood glucose lowering effects may be enhanced, so careful observation of blood glucose levels is warranted. Furthermore, when used with other antihypertensive drugs, the blood pressure lowering effects may be intensified. Co-administration with the drug theophylline may lead to heightened theophylline concentrations resulting in severity of side effects, so caution is required. It must not be combined with ketorolac. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised not to take this medication, and nursing mothers should also avoid it as the drug may pass into breast milk. Safety in children has not been established, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients, whose bodily functions may be diminished, should be closely monitored and given the medication cautiously.
