How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older: 20 mL per dose, taken orally 3-4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

Children aged 12 to under 15 years: 13 mL per dose, taken orally 3-4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age with obesity or those with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome or severe lung diseases as there is an increased risk of severe respiratory depression. Patients with allergies to this medication or its components or a history of hypersensitivity should not use it. It should not be administered to patients taking MAO inhibitors such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, emotion regulators, or antiparkinsonian drugs, or to those who have discontinued them within the past 2 weeks. It is important not to use this medication in children under 12 years of age due to the high risk of severe respiratory depression. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid this medication as it can suppress milk secretion and may be transmitted through breast milk. Patients with glaucoma should not use this medication as its anticholinergic effects may raise intraocular pressure and worsen symptoms. Patients with lower urinary tract obstruction diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should use this medication with caution. Individuals with allergic predispositions or those who have had allergic symptoms from medications, liver or kidney diseases, thyroid disorders, diabetes, frailty or high fever should use it carefully. Patients with cardiovascular diseases or hypertension, as well as the elderly, should be closely monitored while taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication cautiously due to uncertain safety during pregnancy. Patients with respiratory diseases or those experiencing chronic cough with fever or rash should consult a physician before administration. This medication can cause drowsiness, and it is advised to avoid driving or operating machinery while taking it. Co-administration with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives can lead to drug interactions, so they should not be taken together. Caution is required when combined with alcohol or central nervous system depressants as drowsiness may be intensified.
