How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older: 20 mL per dose. Administer orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

Pediatric: 13 mL for children aged 12 years to less than 15 years. Administer orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age who are obese or have obstructive sleep apnea, as well as in patients with severe pulmonary disease due to an increased risk of respiratory depression. Patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, are taking certain antidepressants or antipsychotics, are currently on MAO inhibitors or have stopped them in the last two weeks, are under 12 years of age, are breastfeeding, have glaucoma, or have lower urinary tract obstruction such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should not take this medication. Patients with a history of allergies, previous drug allergy symptoms, liver or kidney disorders, thyroid disease, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, the elderly, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, individuals with increased intraocular pressure or urinary disorders, those with certain chronic respiratory diseases or persistent cough, gastrointestinal disorders, or epilepsy should use this medication with caution. Various side effects such as allergic reactions, gastrointestinal issues, psychiatric symptoms, urinary and circulatory problems, respiratory issues, or blood abnormalities can occur during use; consult a doctor immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. Since this medication may cause drowsiness, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery, and excessive use or prolonged therapy should be avoided. Do not take this medication concurrently with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives, and combining it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may increase drowsiness. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously only when necessary, and breastfeeding women should preferably avoid it. Particular caution is required for children, and the medication is prohibited for children under 12 years of age. The elderly should monitor their condition closely due to potential declines in physical function. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as central nervous system abnormalities, convulsions, respiratory distress, and heart problems may arise; emergency care should be sought immediately, and inducing vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place. It is also important not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.
