Relief of musculoskeletal pain and spasms (e.g., low back pain, cervical shoulder syndrome, etc.)
This medication is used to improve pain and muscle contraction and relaxation issues associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as low back pain from back or waist pain, cervical shoulder syndrome manifesting in the neck, shoulders, and arms, shoulder periarthritis around the shoulder joint, and degenerative spondylosis.
As chlorzoxazone, 200-400 mg (1-2 tablets) per dose, taken orally 3-4 times daily. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.
This medication can rarely cause severe liver damage, so if symptoms such as fever, skin rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, darkened urine, or yellowing of the skin and eyes occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Patients with a history of liver disease must consult a physician before taking this medication. Do not take this medication if you have an allergic reaction to it or have a constitution that is contraindicated for its use. Also, patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with liver or kidney function problems or a history of drug allergies should use this medication with caution. If hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, itching, or hives occur during use, discontinue use immediately. If drowsiness, dizziness, staggering, lethargy, or hypersensitivity occurs, appropriate measures should be taken, such as reducing or stopping the dosage. Liver dysfunction can rarely occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and if any abnormalities arise, discontinue use. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, and epigastric pain, and, albeit rarely, gastrointestinal bleeding may occur. Serious allergic reactions such as allergic skin rash, petechiae, angioedema, and anaphylaxis may rarely occur. This medication may cause drowsiness; therefore, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Interaction may worsen if taken with certain medications or alcohol, so it is advisable not to use it with phenothiazine drugs, central nervous system depressants, or MAO inhibitors; if unavoidable, the dosage should be reduced. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits outweigh the risks and should discontinue nursing while on this medication. Safety in children or infants has not been established, so careful judgment is necessary when using this medication. Elderly patients may have impaired physical function, so caution should be exercised when reducing dosage.
