This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly reduces the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary artery disease and patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as lowering the risks of vascular surgery and angina. For patients already suffering from heart disease, it is effective in lowering the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and congestive heart failure. Additionally, in cases of hyperlipidemia, it reduces total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, and triglyceride levels, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels, thereby aiding the effects of diet. It has similar blood lipid-improving effects in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, contributing to decreased risk of cardiovascular diseases. This medication is used to improve cardiovascular diseases and hyperlipidemia.
