Used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Once a week, take 1 tablet (70 mg/2800 IU or 70 mg/5600 IU) in the morning with a sufficient amount of water at least 30 minutes before any food, drinks, or other medication intake. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it, and do not take it right before bed or when waking up. 1

Child dose

Pediatric and adolescent (under 18 years): Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the upper gastrointestinal mucosa, leading to esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and esophageal erosion. If symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, pain during swallowing, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn occur during use, stop taking the medication and consult a physician immediately. Take this medication with a sufficient amount of water, and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Care must be taken to avoid going to bed immediately after taking it or forgetting the dosage. Patients with esophageal motility disorders, those who cannot sit or stand upright for more than 30 minutes, those allergic to any components in this drug, patients with hypocalcemia, and those with lactose intolerance should not take this medication. During use, gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, and gastric acid reflux may occur, and rarely, skin rashes or severe allergic reactions may occur. Serious side effects like osteonecrosis of the jaw have been reported rarely, so pay attention to oral hygiene; consult a physician if dental treatment is needed. This drug may interfere with the absorption of calcium supplements, antacids, and some medications, so a gap of more than 30 minutes should be maintained. During pregnancy, safety for the fetus has not been established; it should be used cautiously only when necessary, and caution is also required during lactation. It is not used in children, and elderly patients or those with severely impaired kidney function must follow a physician's guidance. In case of overdose, symptoms of hypocalcemia and gastrointestinal irritation may occur, so contact medical institutions immediately for appropriate treatment. Before taking this medication, carefully read the product instructions and follow the physician's guidance for the correct dosage and administration.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blistering, painful mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough and fever associated with respiratory abnormalities, respiratory issues, jaundice (skin or eyes turning yellow), extreme lethargy, liver issues (jaundice), sudden.

Mild side effects

Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, gastric acid reflux, esophageal ulcer, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, abdominal bloating, gastritis, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, or joint) pain, muscle cramps, headache, dizziness, taste disturbances, esophagitis, gastric ulcer, rash, erythema, rhinitis, hair loss, fractures, osteomyelitis, joint swelling, symptoms of hypocalcemia, decreased serum calcium and phosphate, myalgia, gastroesophageal reflux, esophageal erosion, esophageal stricture, esophagus.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a sealed container. Store at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius away from direct light.
