This medication aids patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia when dietary measures and exercise alone are insufficient. It is also used as an adjunct to diet for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, thereby delaying the progression of atherosclerosis. It is used as a dietary adjunct to reduce cholesterol levels in pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 with familial hypercholesterolemia. It is also used in patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Particularly in middle-aged individuals with high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels and at risk of cardiovascular disease, it helps lower the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization. This medication is used to improve cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
