This medication is used to improve the symptoms of difficulty in phlegm discharge in diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute illnesses 200 mg once, three times a day. Chronic illnesses 200 mg once, twice a day.

Child dose

Acute illnesses Ages 6 to 14: 200 mg once, twice a day. Chronic illnesses Ages 6 to 14: 100 mg once, three times a day. Cystic fibrosis Ages 6 and older: 200 mg once, three times a day.

Precautions

This drug should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components. People with ulcers in the stomach or children under 2 years old should not take this drug. Additionally, anyone with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion should avoid this drug. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this drug if absolutely necessary and must consult a doctor before taking it. It is also important for nursing women to consult an expert before taking this drug, as it is uncertain whether it passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during treatment, or if allergic reactions such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, bronchospasm occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. This drug may diminish the effectiveness of some antibiotics when taken together; therefore, it is advisable to maintain at least a 2-hour interval when taking both. Avoid mixing this liquid form of the drug with other medications. Store out of reach of children and keep the medication in its original container to ensure safety and maintain quality. If using the inhalation solution, consult an expert prior to use if there are issues with bronchial asthma or respiratory function. Caution is required for the elderly and children as safety has not been adequately established. After inhalation, mild intoxication, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite may occur, and rarely, hemoptysis, chills, fever, drowsiness, and chest tightness may develop. Proper management is needed if there is an increase in bronchial secretions, so the condition should be closely observed. The inhalation solution should not be used in combination with antibiotics, nor should it be used as an injection or eye drop. After inhalation, the mask may fit closely to the face but can be easily removed with water. After using the inhaler, it is necessary to clean the device properly to prevent any residue from remaining, and caution should be taken as discoloration or precipitation can occur with mixing certain medications.
