Hemostasis and improvement of symptoms for gastric and duodenal ulcers and erosive gastritis, improvement of symptoms in gastroesophageal reflux disease, hemostatic effect for gastric biopsy bleeding.
This medication helps to stop bleeding due to gastric and duodenal ulcers and erosive gastritis, improving the uncomfortable subjective symptoms caused by these conditions. It also alleviates unpleasant symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease, contributing to symptom improvement for patients. It is also used effectively to stop bleeding that may occur after gastric biopsy. Thus, it is effective for hemostasis and symptom relief for various gastrointestinal-related diseases.
1. For hemostasis and improvement of symptoms in gastric and duodenal ulcers and erosive gastritis, as well as improvement of symptoms in gastroesophageal reflux disease: Sodium alginate, usually 1 to 3g (approximately 20 to 60mL) is administered orally on an empty stomach 3 to 4 times a day. If oral administration is not possible, it is administered via nasal tube (sonde). 2. For hemostasis during gastric biopsy bleeding: This medication is usually administered 0.5 to 1.5g (approximately 10 to 30mL) endoscopically and 1.5g (approximately 30mL) orally.
This medication may occasionally cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation during use, so if such symptoms occur, immediate discontinuation of use and consultation with a physician or dentist is necessary. It is helpful to bring the medication's accompanying document during the consultation. Additionally, caution is needed as this medication may not adequately form a gel if there is a lack of gastric acid, which may reduce its effectiveness. Lastly, as this medication contains caramel ingredients, patients who are allergic to or have had hypersensitivity reactions to this ingredient should use it with caution.
