Efficacy & effects

Short-term adjunctive treatment for weight reduction in exogenous obesity

  • Exogenous obesity
View approved original text

This medication is helpful for patients with exogenous obesity who do not respond to weight loss therapies based on exercise, behavior modification, and caloric restriction. It is particularly used in cases where the body mass index (BMI) is 30 kg/m2 or higher, or when there are risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia with a BMI of 27 kg/m2 or higher. This medication should be used alone without other appetite suppressants and assists weight loss as a short-term adjunct therapy. BMI is calculated by dividing weight (kg) by height (m) squared, and patients can verify their BMI based on their height and weight. This medication can help achieve appropriate weight loss.
