Prevention of asthma and relief of allergy rhinitis symptoms
This medication is used to prevent and continuously treat asthma. It also helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effective in improving symptoms related to respiratory allergies.
The standard dose is 10 mg taken once daily; asthma patients should take it in the evening, while allergy rhinitis patients should adjust the dosage time according to their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet or pack in the evening once a day. Adults and adolescents aged 15 and over should take Montelukast orally at a dose of 10 mg once daily.
This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be administered to patients with the hereditary disease phenylketonuria. Although the amount of aspartame included in this medication is regulated to be below the WHO recommended level, caution is required to ensure that the daily maximum allowable amount is not exceeded based on body weight. Patients who are allergic to this medication or any of its components should not take it. Additionally, this medication contains lactose; therefore, patients with hereditary issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. This medication is not to be used for acute asthma attacks; in cases of sudden worsening of asthma, an emergency bronchodilator should be used, and this medication should be taken consistently for asthma control. During treatment, neurological and psychiatric symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, and suicidal thoughts may occur; if such changes occur, consult a doctor immediately. While taking this medication, avoid taking aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, especially in patients with aspirin hypersensitivity. The dosage of inhaled corticosteroids may be gradually adjusted according to the physician’s instructions, but sudden changes can be dangerous. Children and the elderly can also take this medication, but they must closely follow the dosage and precautions according to their age, and the safety for children under 6 months has not been established. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so general symptomatic relief treatment and medical observation are necessary, and if symptoms are severe, immediate hospital visit is required. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be opened just before use and taken quickly after opening, and it should be stored out of the reach of children.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. It should be kept away from direct sunlight and stored at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
