In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose may be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In patients with renal impairment, dosage may be adjusted according to creatinine clearance.

Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins. Caution is particularly necessary for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should avoid using this medication as symptoms may recur. Patients with liver impairment or moderate to severe renal impairment may experience elevated drug concentration, and dosing should be done carefully. Patients with allergic constitution or frequent manifestations such as bronchial asthma or skin rashes should be cautious when taking this medication. Additionally, patients with gastrointestinal diseases like vomiting or diarrhea may have impaired drug absorption. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may occur, requiring immediate consultation with a physician upon symptom occurrence. Symptoms of abnormal liver function have also been reported, and regular liver function tests should be conducted during prolonged use. Rarely, severe side effects such as skin rashes, anaphylaxis, blood abnormalities, and renal dysfunction may manifest, and immediate discontinuation and reporting to medical personnel are necessary if unusual symptoms appear. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any concurrent medications, especially when combined with anticoagulants or specific antibiotics. The use of this medication is limited in pregnant or breastfeeding women and should only be administered after sufficient consultation with a physician if necessary. Experience with pediatric use, particularly in children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg, is limited and therefore not recommended. Elderly patients may have an increased risk of side effects due to declining renal and liver function, requiring careful adjustment of dosage and administration intervals with close monitoring. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal impairment, and neurological abnormalities may occur; hence immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment is required. This medication should be stored in a closed container in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius. Prolonged use may lead to the development of resistant bacteria and an increased risk of side effects; hence it should only be used for the minimal period as directed by a physician.
