View approved original text

This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Additionally, it can be effectively used in patients with heart failure who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors and belong to NYHA classification II to IV. It helps to reduce the mortality risk in stable patients with left ventricular dysfunction post-myocardial infarction. It is thus widely used for hypertension management, symptom improvement in heart failure, and risk reduction after a myocardial infarction.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. Therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be used in certain patient populations, such as those with severely impaired liver or kidney function, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, and patients allergic to this drug or its components. Elderly patients or those with elevated serum potassium levels, as well as patients with liver or cardiac diseases, should use this medication with caution and be closely monitored during administration. This drug has a blood pressure-lowering effect, and upon initial use, blood pressure may drop rapidly, which can lead to dizziness or fainting, requiring caution. Co-administration with other medications that can raise potassium levels may increase the risk of hyperkalemia, so caution is necessary when combined with these drugs. When taken with certain NSAIDs, this medication may reduce the antihypertensive effect or cause issues with kidney function, requiring caution. Pregnant or nursing mothers should avoid this medication, and if it must be taken, consultation with a doctor is necessary, and breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been fully established; therefore, its use is not recommended in these populations. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, reduced consciousness, and shock may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. During treatment with this medication, caution is required when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur.
