This medication is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria, as well as symptoms of dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children aged 6 and above: Take 1 tablet (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride 5mg) orally once daily, regardless of meals. Adjust dosage according to kidney function. - Normal kidney function (eGFR ≥ 90): 1 tablet once daily - Mild kidney impairment (eGFR 60 - < 90): 1 tablet once daily - Moderate kidney impairment (eGFR 30 - < 60): 1 tablet twice daily

Child dose

Children aged 6 and above: Take 1 tablet (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride 5mg) orally once daily, regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have an allergic reaction to specific ingredients or have experienced such reactions in the past. It is not safe to administer this drug to patients with end-stage kidney disease or those undergoing dialysis. Infants under 1 year of age should not use this medication, and children under 6 years should receive it in liquid form, not as tablets. The tablets contain lactose; therefore patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, as well as elderly patients, should use this medication with caution as it may stay in the body longer. This medication may cause CNS symptoms such as drowsiness, headaches, and dizziness, so attention is needed when driving or operating machinery. Increased or irregular heartbeats may occur, so those with heart conditions should be especially cautious. Rare blood-related adverse reactions may occur, so if any unusual symptoms arise, notify healthcare providers immediately. Taking this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may enhance drowsiness or decrease concentration; therefore, it is best to avoid such combinations. Patients with urinary elimination disorders should use this medication carefully. Patients with epilepsy or a risk of seizures may experience worsened conditions after taking this medication; caution is advised. Women who are pregnant or nursing should consult with a physician to ensure safety before using this medication. This medication requires dosage adjustments for children and elderly patients; especially elderly patients should adjust dosage according to kidney function. It is advisable to temporarily discontinue this medication before allergy testing. In cases of overdose, symptoms like drowsiness or anxiety may occur, and since there is no specific antidote, appropriate treatment should be sought at a hospital immediately.
