This medication is used to thoroughly cleanse the bowel before a colonoscopy or X-ray examination. It is important to empty the bowels cleanly for accurate diagnosis, and this product serves that purpose. It helps reduce discomfort during examinations and increases accuracy. Therefore, this drug is used for bowel cleansing purposes before the examination.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer to adults aged 18 and older. 1) Split dosing method: The evening before the colonoscopy, take 1L of the prepared solution (500 mL × 2 times prepared) for 1 hour (250 mL per cup every 15 minutes) and drink an additional 500 mL of water. Precautions

This medication may rarely cause generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients with no history of seizures, so caution should be exercised in cases of electrolyte imbalance. Patients taking medications that can cause electrolyte imbalances, or those suspected of having hyponatremia, should be careful when using this drug. It is advisable to conduct laboratory tests for sodium, potassium, calcium, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), etc., before and after the colonoscopy. This medication should not be used in patients with bowel obstruction, gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation, toxic colitis, or toxic megacolon, and should be used cautiously in patients with severe ulcerative colitis. Patients who have hypersensitivity to this drug or its components, those suspected of having gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation, those with dehydration or severe heart failure, those with active cancer, those with gastroparesis, etc., should not use this medication. This medication is also not used in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, coma patients, or children under 18 years. Patients with bowel stricture or severe constipation, elderly patients, debilitated patients, those with vomiting reflex disorders, and those with severe renal impairment should use this drug with extra caution. Adverse reactions such as hunger, hypophosphatemia, hypokalemia, sleep disorders, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, abdominal distension, fatigue, thirst, and tremors have been reported. Also, allergic reactions or gastrointestinal bleeding, cardiac problems, etc., may occur, so if symptoms arise, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. Before and after administration, the patient's bowel movement status should be checked, and if there is severe abdominal distension or pain, the administration speed should be adjusted or stopped as necessary. If symptoms of fluid or electrolyte imbalance occur, blood tests should be performed to assess the condition, and appropriate treatment should be received. This medication can cause diarrhea, so adequate fluid intake is necessary, and the use of irritant laxatives should be avoided. It is recommended to finish meals at least 1 hour before administration and to avoid solid food intake, and while the effects on driving or operating machinery are unknown, caution is advisable. This drug may interfere with the absorption of other oral medications, so it is preferable not to take other medications within 1 hour before and after administration. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when the diagnostic benefits outweigh the risks due to the lack of established safety.
