Administer 125 mg of terbinafine as a single dose twice a day or 250 mg once a day. If the infection is on the fingernail or relatively small toenail, or in younger patients, the treatment period can be shortened to less than 3 months. This drug is not recommended for patients with chronic liver disease or active liver disease. Before using this medication, the patient's liver disease status and history must be confirmed. Liver function abnormalities may occur regardless of liver disease history; therefore, regular liver function tests should be conducted before and during treatment. If liver function test values rise, the use of this medication must be discontinued immediately. If symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, pain in the right upper abdomen, jaundice, dark urine, or diarrhea occur during treatment, the patient must inform a doctor immediately. If these symptoms occur, this drug should be discontinued, and liver function tests should be performed. This medication can rarely cause severe liver failure, which may necessitate death or a liver transplant, so if signs of liver damage appear, treatment must be stopped immediately, and liver function should be monitored regularly. This drug should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components, those with chronic or active liver disease, blood disorders, severe renal failure, nursing mothers, or infants under 2 years old. Women of childbearing age should be cautious as there may be menstrual irregularities when used with oral contraceptives, and this medication's safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when necessary. Nursing women should stop breastfeeding when taking this medication. In children, particularly those under 2 years of age, there is a lack of experience in administration, so careful consideration is advised, and elderly patients may require caution as the drug can remain in the body longer due to liver and kidney function decline.
