Treatment of otitis media, respiratory infections (pneumonia, pharyngitis, etc.), and urinary tract infections (pyelonephritis, cystitis, etc.)
This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and influenza bacteria. It is effective for respiratory infections such as otitis media, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis, and is also suitable for treating urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and gonococcal urethritis. Additionally, it is used for skin and soft tissue infections such as abscesses, furuncles, folliculitis, soft tissue infections, infectious necrosis, subcutaneous abscesses, burn infections, and wound infections. It exhibits a broad therapeutic effect against various bacterial infections, helping to improve infections.
As Cephalexin Hydrate, take 250 mg (potency) orally every 8 hours. For severe infections and those with low susceptibility, the dosage may be doubled. For acute gonococcal urethritis, administer this medication 3 g combined with 1 g probenecid as a single dose.

This medication works by binding to certain proteins to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing bacteria. Before using this medication, individuals who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication or cephalosporin antibiotics should not use it. Caution is also required for those with allergies to penicillin antibiotics or those with a tendency to frequently exhibit allergic symptoms such as asthma or skin rashes. Patients with severely impaired renal function, those unable to take orally, elderly individuals, or those with compromised overall health should be monitored closely due to the risk of bleeding associated with vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, particularly colitis, should also take caution when using this medication. Rarely, this medication may cause severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, blood abnormalities, liver or kidney function abnormalities, digestive issues, respiratory issues, central nervous system abnormalities, and if any abnormal symptoms occur, medical personnel should be informed immediately. In particular, if severe diarrhea or abdominal pain occurs, it may indicate serious colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis, so use should be stopped immediately, and a doctor's consultation is necessary. When administering this medication, sensitivity tests should be conducted to prevent antibiotic resistance, and it is advisable to use it only for the minimum necessary duration. Additionally, concurrent use with other medications may cause interactions, particularly with medications that may affect the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, which must be approached with caution. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when the benefit outweighs the risk, as its safety has not been fully established, and caution is required while breastfeeding. This medication should not be used in newborns under one month of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased bodily function, so dose adjustments and monitoring are necessary. Finally, it is important to inform medical personnel of this medication when undergoing urine tests, as it may affect the results.
