Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. First, patients allergic to this drug or its components should not use it. Additionally, since it contains lactose, patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients allergic to soybean oil, beans, or peanuts should also avoid this drug. Patients with liver disease or those who have had liver disease in the past should be cautious when taking this medication as liver function may deteriorate. Moreover, patients with lipid metabolism disorders such as hyperlipidemia, diabetic dyslipidemia, or pancreatitis, or those using lipid emulsions should use it with caution. Allergic reactions such as rash, urticaria, redness, itching, and swelling of the face or extremities may occur during the use of this drug, and immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment should follow if any of these symptoms appear. Occasionally, neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, lethargy, headache, dizziness, insomnia, nightmares, numbness, and a feeling of a foggy head may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, gastric discomfort, dry mouth, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and stomatitis may occur rarely. Due to abnormalities in liver function, there may be elevations in AST, ALT, γ-GTP, or jaundice; therefore, liver status should be regularly monitored. As this medication may affect kidney function, rare occurrences of proteinuria may arise, along with urinary symptoms similar to cystitis such as increased urination, hematuria, and urinary retention, so caution is necessary. Symptoms like palpitations or shortness of breath have also been reported rarely. Hematological abnormalities such as thrombocytopenia or leukocytosis may be observed, so any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. Gynecomastia, menstrual irregularities, and chest pain may also occur infrequently. This medication is not a fast-acting drug for relieving asthma attacks, and this should be adequately explained to asthma patients. Patients on long-term steroid therapy should gradually taper their steroids during the use of this drug, under the management of a specialist. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery, as drowsiness may occur. If effectiveness is not confirmed, long-term use should be avoided. For patients with seasonal allergies, it is advisable to start taking this medication before the worsening of symptoms and continue during the period of symptoms. Patients at risk of lipid overload should check their blood lipid levels and adjust the dosage as necessary. When using other lipid injection agents, the lipid content in this medication should be taken into account for adjustments. This medication tends to have minimal interactions with other sedatives, antihistamines, and alcohol; however, clinical experience regarding safety in combination is inadequate. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be administered if the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks in women who may become pregnant or are pregnant. Breastfeeding women should avoid this medication or stop breastfeeding if it is administered as it may be excreted in breast milk. The safety of this medication in children, particularly in low birth weight infants, neonates, and infants, has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is required. Older adults often have impaired liver and kidney functions so monitoring for adverse reactions is necessary, and dosage may need to be reduced or discontinued if needed. In case of overdose, there may be a risk of arrhythmia, so ECG monitoring is necessary, and gastric lavage, diuresis, or symptomatic treatment should be undertaken. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and care should be taken to avoid transferring it to another container as it may affect the quality of the drug. Taking this medication on an empty stomach may increase blood concentration, so for the treatment of bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis, it is effective and safe to take it before bedtime, while for urticaria or eczema, taking it after meals is advisable.
