Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction or those with early bleeding injuries. Patients with orthostatic control disorders or a history of allergic reactions to this drug should also avoid administration. It should be avoided in patients with a history of oxalic acid nephropathy or recurrent calcium kidney stones, patients with acute cardiac arrest, congestive heart failure, severe cardiac conduction defects, angina pectoris, or hypotension. It is advisable not to administer to patients with severely impaired liver function or those who may experience seizures, as well as to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Care should be taken when administering to patients with decreased kidney function or those with coronary atherosclerosis, as neurological side effects such as seizures, sensory disturbances, anxiety, drowsiness, headache, and dizziness may occur during treatment with this drug. Additionally, gastrointestinal symptoms such as loss of appetite, esophagitis, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may arise, so caution is required. Allergic reactions such as urticaria or angioedema, as well as hepatitis, jaundice due to cholestasis, acute hepatocellular necrosis, increased liver enzymes, and, rarely, liver failure may occur. Kidney-related issues such as micturition disturbances or oxalic acid calcium kidney stones may appear, so adequate hydration is necessary. Reported cardiovascular issues include hypotension, orthostatic control disorders, arrhythmias, angina pectoris, fainting, and peripheral edema, with possible increases in blood sugar levels also noted. This drug is not indicated for the treatment of hypertension, and care should be taken not to take it at bedtime without liquids to prevent esophagitis. When taken with antihypertensive medications or antiarrhythmic agents, the drug's effects may be amplified, and consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication, and in cases of overdose, ECG suppression and seizures may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. In cases of overdose, gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal, monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory status, administration of a pacemaker or isoproterenol if necessary, and diazepam for seizures may be required.
