How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents 15 years and older should take 20mL orally 3-4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

For children aged 12 to under 15 years, take 13mL orally 3-4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under the age of 18 who are obese, have obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, or have severe lung diseases due to the risk of serious respiratory depression. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or those who have experienced allergic reactions in the past, patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or who have stopped taking them for less than 2 weeks, children under 12 years of age, nursing women, glaucoma patients, and patients with lower urinary tract obstructive diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should not use this drug. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergy or those who have previously experienced allergic symptoms from medications, as well as those with liver or kidney dysfunction, thyroid disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, older adults, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, patients with increased intraocular pressure or urinary disorders, individuals with specific cough symptoms, peptic ulcer patients, patients with epilepsy, etc. During the intake of this medication, drowsiness may occur, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided, and taking excessive doses or prolonged use is dangerous. Additionally, this drug should not be combined with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or tranquilizers, as taking it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may exacerbate drowsiness. Pregnant or nursing women are advised not to take this medication; particularly in the case of nursing, there may be suppression of milk secretion and the drug may be transmitted through breast milk. Special caution is necessary for children; this drug should not be used in children under 12 years of age, and excess dosing may lead to hallucinations, agitation, seizures, and in severe cases, death, so special care must be taken. For older adults, physical functions may be impaired, so careful monitoring of their condition is necessary when administering the drug. In cases of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, seizures, apnea, mental confusion, and cardiovascular abnormalities may occur, so emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage should be performed immediately. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and it is important not to transfer it to other containers to maintain its quality.
