Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria
This medicine helps relieve allergy symptoms such as seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It can also effectively alleviate symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria. It aids in symptom improvement when used with hydrocortisone topical preparations for dermatitis or eczema that accompanies itching. It is used to alleviate a variety of allergy and skin-related symptoms.
Adults and children aged 6 and above may take 1 tablet (5mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once daily, without regard to meals. Dosage may be adjusted based on age and symptoms. Patients with renal impairment should adjust the dosage based on kidney function (eGFR). - Normal kidney function (≥ 90 mL/min): 1 tablet once a day - Mild renal impairment (60 -< 90 mL/min): 1 tablet once a day
Children aged 6 and above may take 1 tablet (5mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once daily, without regard to meals.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to certain ingredients or have hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. It should also not be administered to patients with severe kidney impairment or those undergoing hemodialysis. This medication should not be used in infants under 1 year old, and children under 6 years old should receive it in liquid form rather than as tablets. The tablets contain lactose, so patients with a genetic disorder who cannot digest lactose should avoid taking it. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function, as well as the elderly, should use this medication cautiously as it may increase blood concentration. Taking this medication may cause side effects such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness, thus caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Taking it with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants may exacerbate drowsiness or decreased concentration, so it is advisable to avoid concurrent use. Patients with urinary retention problems or at risk of urinary retention such as those with benign prostatic hyperplasia should be careful when taking this medication. Patients with epilepsy or at risk of seizures may experience worsening symptoms after taking this medication, so caution is necessary. Pregnant women should use this medication cautiously due to limited data on its effects on the fetus, and nursing women should also be cautious as adverse reactions may occur in infants. Since this medication is primarily excreted through the kidneys, elderly patients with impaired kidney function should start at a low dose and monitor their condition, adjusting the dosage as needed. If undergoing allergy tests (intradermal reaction tests), it is advisable to stop taking this medication 3-5 days before the tests. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, agitation, and restlessness may occur, and as there is no specific antidote, symptomatic treatment is necessary. This medication will not be removed by hemodialysis, so appropriate medical attention is crucial in cases of overdose.
