Precautions

This medication is an antibiotic that works by disrupting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall to kill bacteria. This medication should not be administered to patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug or cephalosporin antibiotics. Those allergic to penicillin drugs or with a history of asthma, rash, or urticaria should use this medication with caution. Patients with very poor kidney function, those unable to take medication orally, elderly patients, and those in poor overall condition should be carefully monitored for signs of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis, should also be cautious when using this medication. This medication can rarely cause severe shock or hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis; if symptoms occur during use, the medication should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be obtained. Severe rashes on the skin or serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may appear, so the condition of the skin should be carefully monitored. Check regularly for blood-related abnormalities such as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia through blood tests. Liver dysfunction or decreased kidney function can occur, therefore, liver and kidney conditions should be checked periodically, and if abnormalities are found, the use of the drug should be stopped. In the gastrointestinal system, symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may appear, and especially if severe colitis develops, the medication should be stopped immediately. Respiratory effects can occur, so if fever, cough, or difficulty breathing is present, the medication should be discontinued and treated. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, agitation, dizziness, drowsiness, and hallucinations can rarely occur, and any such symptoms should be reported. Using this medication can lead to phenomena such as oral inflammation or candidiasis due to bacterial overgrowth. Rarely, bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or deficiency symptoms of vitamin B group may occur, so caution is required. This medication may interact with other drugs, so particularly when used with probenecid, drugs affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, consult a specialist and monitor carefully. Pregnant women or those who could become pregnant should carefully weigh the benefits and risks before using this medication, and nursing mothers should be cautious as the drug can be transferred to breast milk in small amounts. Safety and efficacy in newborns less than 1 month old have not been established, so usage is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more easily due to decreased physiological functions, so dosage adjustments and monitoring are necessary. When using this medication, administer only for the minimum duration necessary to prevent the development of bacterial resistance, and it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing before treatment. Also, while using this medication, some test results in clinical examinations may show false positives, so caution is needed in interpreting the results.
