Treatment for improvement of gastric ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions and alleviation of hyperacidity symptoms
This medication is effective for conditions such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also used to prevent Mendelson's syndrome before anesthesia, and for gastric and duodenal ulcers after surgery and due to NSAID administration. It aids in improving gastric mucosal lesions due to acute gastritis, chronic gastritis acute exacerbation, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It is also effective for alleviating hyperacidity, heartburn, and sour stomach symptoms. This medication is used to treat various gastric-related diseases and symptoms and to improve symptoms.
For adults as ranitidine, the dose is 150 mg orally twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime. For the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, the dose can be 150 mg twice a day or 300 mg once at bedtime. In particular, for patients with duodenal ulcers, the dose can be 300 mg twice a day, morning and bedtime. For recurrent ulcer patients, maintenance therapy of 150 mg once a day at bedtime is recommended.
For children aged 8 to 18 years, the dose is 150 mg (2 mg per kg of body weight) up to twice a day.
This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergic reaction to any ingredient of this medication. It should also not be administered to patients with a history of acute porphyria as it may trigger acute porphyric attacks. Additionally, this medication contains lactose and should not be given to patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with impaired kidney function may have elevated serum concentrations of this medication and should reduce the dose or increase the dosing interval; those with impaired liver function should also use this medication with caution. Patients with a history of drug allergies, the elderly, and those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be administered this medication carefully. Especially, since it can mask symptoms of gastric cancer, it is essential for patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged patients with changes in recent indigestion symptoms to verify that it is not a malignant disease before use. Patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori need eradication therapy. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis shock, so if abnormal symptoms occur during administration, treatment should be discontinued immediately. If hypersensitivity reactions occur such as hives, rash, bronchospasm, or hypotension, administration should be stopped. Various side effects like blood cell count decrease, liver dysfunction, cardiac rhythm abnormalities, digestive disturbances, and neurological symptoms are rarely reported, and if symptoms arise, consult with a healthcare professional promptly. During treatment, abnormalities should be checked through blood tests, liver function tests, and kidney function tests. The elderly and patients with chronic diseases may have increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is required. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may affect the absorption or metabolism of other drugs; thus, inform healthcare professionals of any concurrently administered medications. Particularly, when combined with anticoagulants like warfarin, the risk of bleeding may increase, necessitating periodic testing. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing women, should use this medication with caution, and it should only be given when the benefits outweigh the risks. Safety in children has not been fully established, so caution is necessary. The elderly may require dose adjustments due to potential drug accumulation from decreased kidney function. This medication may yield false positive results in some tests when using test strip methods, so accurate testing methods should be employed. While special toxicity symptoms from overdose are rare, symptomatic treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be needed, and in severe cases, hemodialysis may be beneficial. Store this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container that can block light, in a dry place at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Proper storage will help maintain the medication's efficacy for a longer period.
