This medication is used for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, acute gout, and dysmenorrhea. Additionally, it is effective for various pain-related conditions such as bursitis, skeletal muscle disorders (sprains, strains, trauma, low back pain), postoperative pain, migraine, and post-extraction pain. This drug helps alleviate inflammation and pain, improving the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis Administer 250-500 mg of naproxen orally, twice daily (every 12 hours). 2. Acute gout For initial dose, administer 750 mg orally, then 250 mg orally every 8 hours until the attack subsides. 3. Skeletal muscle disorders, postoperative pain, post-extraction pain, dysmenorrhea, tendinitis, bursitis Administer an initial dose of 500 mg orally, then adjust as needed.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily, so consulting a doctor or pharmacist is essential. It can affect the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of serious thrombotic reactions such as myocardial infarction or stroke, especially in those with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors. It may also impact the gastrointestinal tract, leading to serious adverse reactions such as bleeding, ulcers, or perforation; older adults may be at higher risk. This drug should not be administered to individuals with a history of peptic ulcers, severe blood disorders, liver impairment, heart failure, kidney impairment, hypertension, hypersensitivity to the ingredient or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Those with a history of peptic ulcers, blood disorders, bleeding tendencies, liver or kidney impairment, heart dysfunction, hypertension, hypersensitivity, asthma, autoimmune diseases, the elderly, etc., should use it cautiously. Various side effects, including allergic reactions, gastrointestinal bleeding, blood disorders, liver and kidney dysfunction, neuropsychiatric effects, skin rashes, and severe skin reactions, tinnitus, and visual disturbances, may occur; consult healthcare personnel immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. This medication should be used at the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration necessary, and regular blood tests and liver and kidney function assessments are required for long-term use. Do not take it with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as there may be potential interactions with specific medications; inform your doctor of any other medicines you are taking. In the late stages of pregnancy, it should be avoided as it may affect fetal health; it should also not be taken while breastfeeding since it can transfer into breast milk and cause side effects in infants. It is advisable not to administer to infants under 2 years old due to the lack of established safety, and the elderly should use it cautiously with lower doses, paying special attention to the risk of side effects. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, dyspepsia, and vomiting may occur; immediate medical attention is required, and it should be stored out of reach of children.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and naproxen derivatives. It may interact with hydantoins and antiepileptic agents, sulfa drugs, sulfonylurea antihyperglycemics, propranolol and other β-blockers, ACE inhibitors (such as captopril), loop and thiazide diuretics, probenecid, aspirin, lithium, methotrexate, vitamin K antagonists (like warfarin), zidovudine, and fluoroquinolone antibiotics (like enoxacin).

Storage

This medication may be sensitive to air or humidity; therefore, it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is advisable to maintain a storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage ensures the efficacy of the drug.
