Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who are allergic to specific components. It can be particularly dangerous for patients who have experienced hypersensitivity to penicillin class drugs. Caution should be exercised in cases of viral infections, especially in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphoblastic leukemia, as the risk of skin rashes may increase. Caution is also warranted for patients with liver function issues or a history of liver disease due to the potential for relapse. Patients with liver dysfunction or moderate to severe renal impairment may experience increased drug concentration, necessitating dosage adjustments. Patients with allergic constitutions or those who easily exhibit symptoms such as bronchial asthma, rashes, and urticaria should use it carefully. Patients experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea may have unstable absorption of the medication, requiring careful attention. This medication may produce gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, with severe cases leading to pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis. Signs of liver dysfunction have also been reported, making regular liver function tests essential, especially for the elderly or those on long-term treatment. Rarely, severe skin reactions such as skin rashes, itching, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, requiring immediate discontinuation upon symptom onset. Hematologic abnormalities such as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia have been reported, necessitating regular blood tests. Neurological side effects such as anxiety, confusion, and seizures may occur infrequently, requiring caution in patients with decreased renal function or those receiving high doses. Patients with renal impairment may develop renal failure or nephritis, thus requiring regular observation and testing for abnormalities. Long-term use may result in bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency, necessitating caution. Use during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, should be avoided if possible, and monitoring is necessary during breastfeeding to observe for diarrhea or hypersensitivity reactions in infants. Safety has not been established for premature infants or newborns, requiring caution in use. Elderly patients should be cautiously administered due to a higher risk of adverse reactions associated with declining physiological functions, demanding adjustments in dosage and frequency. This drug may interact with other medications, thus requiring caution when used together with probenecid, anticoagulants, anti-inflammatories, oral contraceptives, and more. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, seizures, or hypersensitivity shock may appear; immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment are necessary. This medication should be refrigerated after preparation and used within 7 days, shaking well before use.
