Precautions

This drug is a penicillin class antibiotic and should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to beta-lactam drugs. Caution should be taken particularly in cases of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome. In addition, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at higher risk of rash and should be monitored closely. Patients with liver function issues should use this drug cautiously as liver dysfunction may worsen. Patients with moderate or severe renal impairment may require adjustment of dosing intervals due to increased drug concentration. Patients with allergic predispositions or those who experience symptoms like bronchial asthma, rash, or urticaria should also exercise caution. Patients for whom oral administration is difficult, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition should be monitored for bleeding risk due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea may have insufficient drug absorption, thus they should be administered cautiously. This drug may cause side effects like diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, and gastrointestinal adverse reactions can be alleviated by taking the medication with food. Liver-related adverse reactions, such as liver dysfunction, hepatitis, and jaundice, have also been reported, so periodic liver function tests are recommended. Rarely, serious skin reactions or anaphylactic shock may occur, so if abnormal symptoms appear during administration, it should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Rarely, blood system abnormalities, renal dysfunction, and central nervous system symptom may also occur; hence careful observation is necessary. This drug presents a risk of resistant bacteria emergence and proliferation of non-susceptible bacteria with prolonged use; therefore, it is advisable to administer for the necessary minimum duration only. It is safe not to use this drug during the first three months of pregnancy, and during breastfeeding, if adverse effects occur in infants, administration should be stopped. It is recommended to use this drug only for children aged 12 years and older or those weighing over 40 kg. For elderly patients, the risk of adverse reactions is higher due to decreased physiological function, thus dosage and intervals must be adjusted with caution. This medication may interact with other drugs, especially caution is needed when combined with anticoagulants, allopurinol, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms or renal failure, seizures, etc., may occur, and medical personnel should be informed immediately to receive appropriate treatment.
