Improvement of schizophrenia symptoms
This medication is used to alleviate symptoms of schizophrenia.
The recommended initial dosage for adults with schizophrenia is 10 mg or 15 mg once daily, irrespective of food intake. Dosage can be adjusted within the range of 10-30 mg per day, and increases should not occur before 2 weeks have passed. Maintenance therapy is conducted for patients who have been stabilized on other antipsychotic medications for over 3 months at a daily dose of 15 mg based on clinical trials demonstrating efficacy in preventing relapse compared to placebo. To transition from existing antipsychotic medications, the previous dosage should be gradually reduced before starting this medication.
The recommended dosage for adolescents (ages 13-17) is 10 mg once daily, irrespective of food intake. The initial dosage is 2 mg once daily, increased to 5 mg after 2 days, and further to 10 mg after another 2 days. Subsequent increases can be done by 5 mg.
