This medication is used to treat various infections caused by several bacteria. It is effective against respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscess. It is also used for upper respiratory infections such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media, as well as urinary tract infections like cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. It is effective against pelvic infections and sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, as well as boils, abscesses, soft tissue infections, and wound infections. Furthermore, it is utilized for the treatment of osteomyelitis and dental infections. Overall, it is used to treat multiple infections responding to various bacterial strains.

How to take

Adult dose

For severe infections and respiratory infections in adults, 2 tablets per dose, orally administered twice a day every 12 hours.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific components or have a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics. Special caution is advised for patients with viral diseases such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as there may be an increased risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction should also avoid this medication as it may cause a recurrence of liver impairment. Additionally, this medication contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with lactose enzyme deficiency or galactose intolerance. Patients with reduced liver or kidney function should have their dose or dosing intervals adjusted, and caution is necessary for individuals with allergies, elderly patients, or those in poor general health. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or severe vomiting and diarrhea may have impaired drug absorption and require careful monitoring. Symptoms of gastrointestinal abnormalities such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting may occur during use, and in severe cases, immediate discontinuation and consultation with a physician are necessary. Rarely, liver function abnormalities may also occur, so liver function tests are required for prolonged use. If allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, immediate discontinuation of the medication and notification to medical personnel is required. Changes such as decreased white blood cells or platelets have been rarely reported in blood tests, so testing should be performed if any abnormal symptoms arise. Central nervous system symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and seizures can occur rarely, so caution is required. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. This medication can interact with other drugs, so patients taking other medications should inform their physician or pharmacist. In case of overdose, symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and drowsiness may occur, and in severe cases, immediate medical attention should be sought. It should be stored in a sealed container to prevent moisture, and it should be kept in a cool place between 1°C and 25°C. Additionally, patients should not arbitrarily discontinue the medication or alter the dosage.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucosal surfaces of the mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress with cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe overall malaise, liver dysfunction (jaundice), sudden and very severe symptoms

Mild side effects

Diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, black tongue, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation, colonic pain, gastric hyperacidity, loose stools, dry mouth, candidiasis, severe colitis accompanied by bloody stools, elevated AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, elevated serum bilirubin, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, itching, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, blistering dermatitis, acute general malaise
