This medicine is used to relieve symptoms of cough and phlegm.

How to take

Adult dose

For adults and teenagers aged 15 years and above, take 20 mL orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

For children aged 12 years and above but under 15 years, take 13 mL orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

It is advisable not to use this drug in patients under 18 years of age who are obese, have obstructive sleep apnea, or have severe pulmonary disease, as it may pose a risk of severe respiratory depression. Patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this drug or its components should not take it. Patients who are taking or have stopped taking MAO inhibitors such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, or antiparkinsons within the last two weeks should not use this drug. This drug should not be used in children under 12 years old, and extreme caution is needed in pediatric patients as overdose may cause hallucinations, agitation, seizures, and in severe cases, death. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid this drug as it may suppress milk secretion and can be transmitted through breast milk. Patients with glaucoma should not use this drug as its anticholinergic effect may increase intraocular pressure and aggravate glaucoma. Patients with lower urinary tract obstructive diseases such as prostate enlargement should also avoid this drug. Patients with allergic constitutions or those who have previously experienced allergic symptoms such as fever, rash, and itching due to medication should use this drug with caution. Patients with liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, the weak, and those with high fever should monitor their condition closely while taking this drug. Patients with cardiovascular diseases or the elderly may have decreased physiological function and should be administered cautiously. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this drug only when necessary and with caution, as its safety has not been established. Caution is also needed if a cough persists for a long time or if accompanied by fever, rash, headache, or in cases of smokers, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and bronchiectasis when using this drug. This drug may cause drowsiness, so it is safe to avoid driving or operating machinery while taking it. It is advisable not to take it together with other cold medicines, cough suppressants, antihistamines, or sedatives, and combining it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may intensify drowsiness. In case of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, seizures, apnea, cardiovascular abnormalities, etc. may occur, so immediate medical attention is required for inducing vomiting or gastric lavage as emergency treatment. This drug should be stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Furthermore, it is important not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.
