Treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer
This medication is used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer. It is particularly effective for the first-line treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who have previously failed chemotherapy and those with EGFR activating mutations. Additionally, it is used in combination with gemcitabine for the treatment of patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer. This drug helps improve the patient's condition by inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.
Non-small cell lung cancer: Take 150mg once daily at least 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after a meal. This medicine may be continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. Pancreatic cancer: In combination with gemcitabine, take 100mg once daily at least 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after a meal. This medicine may be continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. If dose reduction is necessary, reduce the dose by 50mg. If no alternative medicine is available, consider administering more than 150mg for non-small cell lung cancer or more than 100mg for pancreatic cancer, and monitor patient safety to confirm tolerability. If the dose of this medicine has been increased, reduce it when rifampicin or another inducer is discontinued. The maximum tolerated dose of this medicine in current smokers with non-small cell lung cancer is 300mg. In patients who continue to smoke, administration of 300mg as second-line therapy after chemotherapy did not improve efficacy compared with the recommended dose of 150mg.
This medication is used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer, and pulmonary toxicity such as interstitial lung disease can rarely occur, so if symptoms such as dyspnea, cough, and fever develop, consult a doctor immediately. Cardiovascular abnormalities such as myocardial infarction or cerebrovascular accident have been reported, so caution is required in patients with a history of heart disease. Blood abnormalities such as thrombocytopenia and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia may occur, so blood test results should be checked regularly. Diarrhea, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and renal failure may occur, so if diarrhea is severe or persistent, the medication should be stopped and appropriate treatment should be sought. Liver dysfunction has also been reported, and patients with liver impairment should undergo regular liver function tests. If severe liver dysfunction occurs, the medication should be discontinued. There is a risk of gastrointestinal perforation, so patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or those taking related medications should exercise caution. Rarely, skin blistering and exfoliative disorders may occur, so if there are abnormal symptoms on the skin, inform a doctor immediately. Ocular symptoms, such as keratitis or ulceration, may occur, so if there is eye pain or blurred vision, consult an eye specialist. This medication contains lactose, so it is not administered to patients with lactose intolerance. It should be administered with caution in patients with liver or kidney disorders, especially those with liver dysfunction who require dosage adjustment and liver function monitoring. During treatment, caution is needed as the drug concentration may change when used concurrently with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers. Smoking may reduce the efficacy of this medication, so it is advisable to quit smoking while on treatment. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid pregnancy during treatment, and it is preferable not to use during breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established, so caution is advised for use in this group. Elderly patients show a similar safety profile to that of adults, but special dosage adjustments are not recommended. In case of overdose, diarrhea, rash, and liver dysfunction may occur, so treatment should be sought immediately, and the medication should be discontinued.
