This medication is used to treat hypertension and ischemic heart disease caused by stable and variant angina. It also helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients recently diagnosed with coronary artery disease through angiography, provided they have no heart failure and an ejection fraction of 40% or more. Consequently, it effectively manages various symptoms and risks of cardiovascular disease, improving the heart health of patients.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity, nursing women, patients with severe hepatic impairment, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock. Caution is advised in patients with severe hypotension, those needing dialysis for renal failure, elderly patients, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Common side effects when taking this drug may include flushing, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarely, severe hypotension, vasculitis, sensory disturbances, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, dry mouth, dyspepsia, liver function abnormalities, skin rash, and allergic reactions may occur. For patients with heart failure, there is a risk of pulmonary edema, so caution is needed, and dosage adjustment is required for patients with liver function impairment. Taking this drug with grapefruit or grapefruit juice may excessively increase its blood pressure-lowering effect; therefore, co-administration is not recommended. Drug interactions may occur with certain medications, so if you are taking other drugs, be sure to consult your doctor or pharmacist. The safety of this drug during pregnancy or lactation has not been established, so it should be avoided except in special cases, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if possible. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and tachycardia may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. This drug can also be used in children, but safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 6 years of age.
