Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve acute and chronic pain ranging from moderate to severe.
For children aged 12 and above and adults: The dosage should be adjusted based on the patient's level of pain and treatment response. A starting dose of 4 tablets is recommended, after which the interval between doses should be at least 6 hours, without exceeding 16 tablets per day. The lowest effective dosage should be used for the shortest duration possible. Avoid using this medication for longer than necessary, and if long-term use is required due to the characteristics and severity of the disease, regular monitoring should be conducted to determine the ongoing need for this medication. Elderly patients The usual adult dosage should be administered. However, for elderly patients over 75 years of age, it has been noted that the half-life of tramadol increases by 17% when taken orally, so doses should be administered at intervals of at least 6 hours. Patients with renal impairment For moderate renal impairment patients (creatinine clearance of 10-30 mL/min), the dosing interval should be extended to 12 hours. For severe renal impairment patients (creatinine clearance below 10 mL/min), use of this medication is not recommended. Tramadol is removed very slowly during hemodialysis and filtration, so there is no need to readminister this medication after dialysis to maintain analgesic effects. Patients with liver impairment For moderate liver impairment patients, consider extending the dosing interval cautiously. For severe liver impairment patients, this medication should not be administered.
For children aged 12 and above and adults: The dosage should be adjusted based on the patient's level of pain and treatment response. A starting dose of 4 tablets is recommended, after which the interval between doses should be at least 6 hours, with a maximum of 16 tablets per day.
This medication can put stress on the liver, so those who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. The ingredients in this medication can occasionally cause serious skin reactions, so if a rash or hypersensitivity reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. The main ingredient, tramadol, may increase the risk of seizures; therefore, patients with a history of seizures or those at high risk of seizures should exercise caution when using it. The risk of seizures may also increase when used in conjunction with certain antidepressants or opioid analgesics. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur, so medical personnel should be informed immediately if allergy symptoms develop. Patients with acute or severe bronchial asthma are at risk of respiratory depression when taking this medication; thus, it should only be taken in a medically equipped setting, and alternative medications should be considered for patients at risk of respiratory suppression. This medication may cause severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, or coma when taken with central nervous system depressants or alcohol, so caution is needed when combining them, and it should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration possible. Patients with head injuries or elevated intracranial pressure may be at risk of increased brain pressure while taking this medication, so careful monitoring is required. This medication can induce opioid-like dependence; hence, long-term use requires careful management from healthcare professionals regarding the potential for dependence and abuse. Patients with impaired liver function should consult a doctor before taking this medication, as liver damage may occur due to the acetaminophen component, and care should be taken not to exceed the total daily dosage. Those who metabolize this medication rapidly due to genetic factors are at higher risk of respiratory depression and should be monitored closely for dosage adjustments. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years of age or adolescents under 18 years who have undergone tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy. Adolescents aged 12 to 18 should avoid use if risk factors are present. Patients with sleep apnea or hypoxemia may experience worsening symptoms after taking this medication, necessitating continuous evaluation and dosage adjustments if needed. Elderly patients or those at risk of hyponatremia should be carefully monitored for symptoms of hyponatremia while taking this medication. This medication should not be given to patients with hypersensitivity to specific components, those with central nervous system drug abuse, severe respiratory depression, or severe liver, kidney, or heart disease, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women or patients with certain neurological disorders. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur while taking this medication, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. In the event of an overdose, severe respiratory depression, seizures, liver damage, and other symptoms can occur, so contact a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment.
