This medication is used for muscle pain and muscle spasms caused by musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of rigidity paralysis resulting from neurological diseases, and is applicable for the treatments of sequelae from various brain and spinal cord-related disorders such as cerebrovascular disorders, cerebral palsy, and spinal cord injury. It is used to improve muscle problems and rigidity caused by various origins.

How to take

Adult dose

As eperisone hydrochloride, orally take 50 mg three times a day after meals. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in specific patients. First, individuals allergic to this drug should not take it. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients with myasthenia gravis. This drug contains lactose, and should not be used in patients with genetic lactose intolerance problems. Caution is required when using this medication. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug should be administered carefully. Patients with liver function issues should be cautious as liver function may deteriorate. Side effects may occur, so symptoms should be monitored carefully. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur; if symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and treatment initiated. Liver enzyme levels may rise, so liver function should be monitored, and if abnormalities are found, administration should be discontinued. It may affect kidney function, so attention should be paid to changes in proteinuria or blood test results. Blood abnormalities such as anemia may also rarely appear, so symptoms should be monitored. Skin rashes or itching may occur. Neurological symptoms may include insomnia, drowsiness, headache, limb paralysis, stiffness, or tremors. Digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, and abdominal pain may appear. Urinary disorders such as dysuria may rarely occur. Systemically, weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tone may present. Rarely, facial flushing, sweating, and edema may occur. Serious skin disorders like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may develop, so if symptoms such as fever, redness, blisters, itching, conjunctival injection, or stomatitis appear, administration should be stopped immediately. During the use of this medication, weakness, staggering, or drowsiness may occur; if these symptoms are severe, dosage should be reduced or discontinued. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Interactions with other medications may occur, so particular caution should be taken when taking similar drugs together. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Breastfeeding women should avoid taking this drug if possible; if it is unavoidable, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been adequately established, so caution is warranted in use. Elderly individuals may have decreased physical function, so they should be used carefully, including dosage reductions.
