This medication is used for chronic myeloid leukemia, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and certain rare blood and soft tissue disorders that are sensitive to imatinib. For patients with chronic myeloid leukemia, it is effective in improving hematological and cytogenetic responses and in slowing disease progression. For patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, it helps prevent recurrence post-surgery and treats unresectable tumors. In addition, it also shows effectiveness in certain disorders related to platelet-derived growth factor receptor and PDGFR rearrangements, enhancing blood response rates and tumor response rates. This medication plays an essential role in treating these various conditions.
