Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria
This medication is used to alleviate symptoms of allergic conditions such as seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis. It also reduces the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria and aids in alleviating symptoms when used in conjunction with hydrocortisone topical agents for dermatitis and eczema accompanied by pruritus. Overall, it is effective for the improvement of allergy and skin-related symptoms.
Adults: Take 1 tablet (5mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once a day, regardless of meals. Patients with renal impairment should adjust the dosage according to kidney function (creatinine clearance). - Mild (50 ≤ CLCR < 80): 1 tablet once a day - Moderate (30 ≤ CLCR < 50): 1 tablet every other day - Severe (10 ≤ CLCR < 30): 1 tablet every three days
Children over 6 years: Take 1 tablet (5mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once a day, regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used by patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to certain ingredients. It is also not safe to administer to patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication. It should never be used in infants under 1 year of age, and liquid form should be given to children under 6 years of age instead of tablets. Patients with specific genetic metabolic disorders, such as lactose intolerance, should not take this medication if it contains lactose. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function, and elderly individuals should use this medication with caution, as it may linger in the body. This medication can cause various neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, headache, and dizziness. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include dry mouth, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Heart rate may become rapid or irregular, and changes in blood components have been reported. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, itching, or swelling may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. Occasionally, symptoms like blurred vision or conjunctival injection may occur. Liver and kidney function test results may change, necessitating regular examinations. In children, symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and otitis media may be common. Drowsiness or fatigue may increase after taking this medication, thus caution is advised when performing tasks requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. It is advisable to avoid taking this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants, as this may intensify drowsiness. Patients with urinary excretion impairments should exercise caution while taking this medication. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it's essential to inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking. It is safest not to use this medication during pregnancy or while nursing. Children and the elderly particularly require careful dosage adjustments and monitoring upon administration. Discontinuation of this medication before allergy testing may help in obtaining accurate test results. Overdose may lead to symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation, with no specific antidote available, thus immediate medical treatment is necessary. This medication is difficult to remove via dialysis, so prompt medical action is required in case of overdose.
