Prevention and improvement of symptoms of allergic rhinitis and sinusitis (including nasal polyps)
This medication improves symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children over 2 years of age, and can be used preventively 2 to 4 weeks prior to expected allergen exposure in cases of severe symptoms. Additionally, it is effective in treating nasal polyps in adults aged 18 and older. Furthermore, it is used to treat acute sinusitis without severe bacterial infection in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Allergic rhinitis 1) Adults (including the elderly) and adolescents aged 12 years and older: Generally, spray twice in each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.2 mg). If symptoms are alleviated, the maintenance dosage can be reduced to once in each nostril (total daily dosage 0.1 mg). If symptoms do not improve, the dose can be increased to a maximum of four sprays in each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.4 mg).
Allergic rhinitis 2) Children aged 2 to 11 years: Generally, spray once in each nostril once a day (total daily dosage 0.1 mg).
This drug is a corticosteroid used in the nasal cavity that helps alleviate allergic rhinitis or nasal inflammation. However, it should not be used if you are allergic to the components of this drug or have an untreated infection in the nasal mucosa. If you've recently had nasal surgery or have wounds in the nose, it is advisable not to use this drug until the wounds have fully healed. Children under 2 years of age should not use this drug. Patients with respiratory infections or tuberculosis, as well as systemic infections, should use this drug cautiously, particularly if there is a risk of chickenpox or measles. Patients who often experience nosebleeds should be careful as this drug may aggravate bleeding. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a doctor before using this drug. While using this drug, it is rare to experience side effects such as irritation in the nose or throat, nosebleeds, headaches, or infections, so report severe symptoms to a healthcare professional. Long-term high-dose use may lead to systemic corticosteroid side effects, so dosage and duration should be carefully adhered to. This drug helps protect the nasal mucosa and restore it to normal, but it is important to regularly check the condition of the nasal mucosa when used for an extended period. Particularly when used in conjunction with other corticosteroids, the risk of side effects may increase, so follow the healthcare professional's instructions. Additionally, when used with certain antifungals or antibiotics, the risk of side effects may increase due to drug interactions, so caution is required. In children, the use of this drug may slow growth rate, so growth should be monitored regularly, and it's advisable to use the minimal effective dose. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so they should use this drug cautiously while closely monitoring their condition. In case of overdose, specific treatment is usually not required, but be vigilant for potential corticosteroid side effects. This drug should only be sprayed in the nasal cavity and care should be taken not to spray directly into the eyes or septum. When storing, keep it out of the reach of children and it is recommended to shake the container well and perform a test spray before use. The effects on driving or operating machinery are not known, but caution should be exercised if unusual reactions occur.
