Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria
This medication is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching.
Adults and children over 6 years of age take one tablet (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg) orally, once a day, regardless of meals. Adjust the dosage based on kidney function, administering one tablet once daily for normal kidney function (≥ 90 mL/min) and mild impairment (60 -< 90 mL/min). For moderate impairment (30 -< 60 mL/min), take one tablet every other day.
Children over 6 years of age take one tablet (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg) orally, once a day, regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to certain ingredients or have hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. It should also not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not use this medication. It is prohibited for infants under 1 year of age, and children under 6 years should take it in liquid form instead of as tablets. Additionally, patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic disorders related to lactose metabolism should not take this medication in tablet form. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, as well as elderly individuals, may have increased blood concentrations of this medication and should use it cautiously. Taking this medication may cause central nervous system symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Rarely, cardiovascular issues such as increased heart rate, arrhythmia, or elevated blood pressure may be reported. Hematologic adverse reactions may include leukopenia or platelet abnormalities. Allergic reactions may occur, including skin rashes, itching, swelling, and in rare cases, anaphylactic shock. Ocular symptoms may include blurred vision or conjunctival hyperemia. Periodic liver and kidney function tests may be necessary as their test results can temporarily rise. Drowsiness or fatigue may occur after taking this medication, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery that requires alertness. It is advisable to avoid taking this medication with alcohol or other drugs that affect the central nervous system. Patients at risk for urinary obstruction should be especially cautious when using this medication. Taking this medication with alcohol may exacerbate drowsiness or decreased concentration, so it is advisable not to combine them. Pregnant or nursing women should refrain from using this medication, and it should also be avoided in cases of potential pregnancy. It should not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and dosage adjustments are necessary for children under 12 years. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney function, so it is recommended to start with a lower dose and carefully monitor their condition. It is preferable to temporarily discontinue this medication before allergy testing. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, and restlessness may appear, and there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment should be applied. This medication is not removed by dialysis, thus dialysis is not helpful in cases of overdose.

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a sealed container that blocks light. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1°C and 30°C to preserve the medication's efficacy and safety for a longer duration.
