Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug or cephalosporin antibiotics in the past. Patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with a tendency to develop allergic symptoms such as asthma, rash, or hives should use this drug with caution. Patients with severe renal impairment or those who have difficulty taking oral medications, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition should be closely monitored as vitamin K deficiency may occur. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, should also exercise caution when using this drug. This drug can rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis; if symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Severe rashes, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis that affect the skin may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. Hematologic adverse reactions such as agranulocytosis, anemia, and thrombocytopenia may occur, necessitating regular monitoring and testing. Liver function abnormalities and renal impairment may rarely occur, so administration should be stopped if any unusual symptoms appear. Rarely, severe colitis may develop, so if symptoms like abdominal pain or diarrhea arise, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Respiratory side effects such as interstitial pneumonia or eosinophilic lung infiltrates may occur; therefore, if symptoms like shortness of breath or cough appear, immediate treatment is necessary. Central nervous system symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, dizziness, and hallucinations may rarely occur, necessitating careful monitoring. Conditions such as oral thrush or candidiasis may also develop due to microbial imbalance. Symptoms of vitamin K or vitamin B complex deficiencies may occur, so careful observation is required. Headaches, itching, vaginitis, and various other side effects may rarely occur. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, this drug should be used only for the minimum duration required after susceptibility testing. It is important to thoroughly check the patient's medical history to prevent shock reactions. Consider the possibility of reinfection with bacteria resistant to other antibiotics when choosing the appropriate treatment method. This drug may interact with certain medications, so caution is needed when used with probenecid, nephrotoxic antibiotics, diuretics, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, so it should be used only when the benefits outweigh the risks; it should also be used with caution in breastfeeding mothers. Safety and efficacy have not been determined in newborns less than 1 month old. Elderly patients have an increased risk of adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions and potential bleeding from vitamin K deficiency, so dosing and intervals should be adjusted carefully. This drug may affect the results of some clinical tests, so care is needed when interpreting test results.
