Adult dose
For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: 10 mg orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, it can be increased to 20 mg orally once daily. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; if symptoms do not resolve, it can be administered for an additional 8 weeks at 10 mg or 20 mg orally twice daily. However, the 20 mg dosage twice daily should be given only to patients with severe mucosal damage.

This medication helps treat gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and is used to relieve symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also effective for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease. For patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori, it is used in combination with antibiotics for treatment. It can also be applied to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medication is widely used for various gastrointestinal diseases to improve symptoms and aid in treatment.

How to take

Adult dose

For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: 10 mg orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, it can be increased to 20 mg orally once daily. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; if symptoms do not resolve, it can be administered for an additional 8 weeks at 10 mg or 20 mg orally twice daily. Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to specific ingredients or those who have experienced hypersensitivity to similar drugs previously. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Neurological symptoms such as headache, dizziness, insomnia, or drowsiness may occur, so caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery. Respiratory symptoms such as cough or difficulty breathing may occur; if such symptoms arise, immediate consultation with healthcare staff is necessary. Muscle pain or joint pain may occur, so if symptoms are severe, it is advisable to inform healthcare providers. In case of severe rash or blisters on the skin, medication should be discontinued immediately and healthcare personnel informed, as there may be a rare occurrence of serious skin disorders. Abnormal eye symptoms or changes in vision may occur; if changes in sight are noted, an exam should be conducted. This medication may inhibit gastric acid secretion, increasing the risk of certain bacterial infections; hence, if diarrhea persists, healthcare personnel should be notified. Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures, so regular monitoring is necessary for those who use it for long periods under a doctor’s guidance. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if currently taking any medications, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist. There is no specific antidote for overdose, and symptomatic treatment should be pursued immediately at a medical facility. This medication should not be chewed or crushed but swallowed whole, and kept out of reach of children.
