Additionally, it alleviates symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allowing the patient to maintain a more comfortable daily life. It is used for the management of asthma and allergic rhinitis symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, with asthma patients advised to take it in the evening, and allergy rhinitis patients should schedule the dosage according to their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take one tablet in the evening once daily. Adults and adolescents aged 15 and older should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. During use, neuropsychiatric symptoms may occur, so if symptoms such as restlessness, depression, anxiety, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts arise, consult a physician immediately. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with phenylketonuria should avoid taking it. Formulations containing lactose should not be administered to patients with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Side effects such as fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, cough, nasal congestion, and rash may occur; if abnormal symptoms persist, notify a doctor. This medication is not intended for use during acute asthma attacks; a fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator should be used in emergencies. Patients who are hypersensitive to aspirin should avoid taking aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs during treatment with this medication. Serious side effects such as vasculitis or eosinophilia can occur rarely; if symptoms of difficulty breathing or heart symptoms arise, consult medical personnel immediately. There are no significant interactions when taken with other medications, but careful observation is necessary when combined with certain drugs under a physician's guidance. If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before taking this medication, and exercise caution when administering to children and the elderly. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so general treatment based on symptoms should be administered, and store out of reach of children.
