This medicine helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease and in diabetic patients. Additionally, it reduces the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular interventions, heart failure hospitalization, and angina in patients with heart disease. It is used for patients with hyperlipidemia to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to increase the level of good cholesterol (HDL). It is especially utilized as an adjunct to dietary therapy to regulate total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia or dyslipidemia, and in children as well. This medicine effectively improves the risk of cardiovascular disease.
