Thioctic acid meets the increased bodily demands during intensive manual labor and is used in the treatment of neurological disorders such as Leigh syndrome. It is also effective for toxic inner ear hearing loss caused by drugs such as streptomycin or kanamycin and for occupational noise-induced inner ear hearing loss. However, if no effects are observed after about one month of administration, it is advisable not to continue the treatment. This medication is primarily used for the treatment of certain neurological and inner ear diseases.
