This medication is used to improve difficulty in expectoration in acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, cystic fibrosis, etc.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute disease in adults: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic disease in adults: 200 mg once, twice a day

Children's dosage

Acute disease in children (6 ~ 14 years): 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic disease in children (6 ~ 14 years): 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis in children (6 years and older): 200 mg once

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this drug or any of its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also refrain from using this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not use this medication. Additionally, because it contains lactose, individuals with genetic disorders that affect lactose digestion should avoid taking it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must consult a doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding women should also use caution as it is uncertain whether this medication passes into breast milk. During the use of this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, and diarrhea may occur; therefore, caution is advised. Rarely, allergic reactions such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, and bronchospasm may occur. In addition, symptoms such as increased heart rate or high blood pressure may rarely occur. If breathing difficulties arise, discontinue the medication immediately and consult medical personnel. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of certain antibiotics if taken together, so it should be administered at least 2 hours apart. Do not mix other medications in this medication's solution. Store in a safe place away from children, and keep in the original container to maintain the quality and safety of the medication. Inhaled forms of this medication should be discussed with a physician prior to use in patients with bronchial asthma or poor respiratory function. It is also safe for the elderly and children to consult a professional before use. Mild discomfort, nausea, drowsiness, and chest tightness may occur after inhalation; thus, caution is advised. If there is an increase in bronchial secretions, appropriate treatment may be necessary. This medication is not to be used as an injection or eye drops, and nebulizers should be cleaned immediately after use. This medication and certain antibiotics may form precipitates or discolor when mixed, so caution is needed when used together. It is advisable to dilute to avoid overly high drug concentrations during nebulization.
