Precautions

This drug should be used with caution in patients with poor liver function. There is a higher risk of citric acid toxicity in cases of weakened liver function. Additionally, caution is required for patients who have undergone hypothermic anesthesia. The use of this drug in a hypothermic state can easily lead to citric acid toxicity. Administering a large quantity of this drug in a short period may suppress cardiac function, cause abnormalities in heart rhythm, and lower blood pressure. These symptoms can affect the cardiovascular system, so caution is warranted. Side effects related to muscles and bones may include cramps or muscle stiffness. This is associated with citric acid toxicity, so vigilance is necessary. Sensory abnormalities may present as numbness in hands and feet or sensory dullness. Respiratory symptoms may include chest tightness or difficulty breathing. Gastrointestinal side effects may include nausea or vomiting. Other symptoms such as hematuria, chills, tremors, fever, dizziness, and metabolic alkalosis may occur, and in children, there may be a change in stool color to green-brown or the occurrence of bilirubinuria. While using this drug, calcium levels in the blood may drop, leading to signs of citric acid toxicity, so calcium supplements should be administered if necessary. Clear or deteriorated anticoagulants should not be used, and blood should be well mixed several times during phlebotomy. Before transfusion, a crossmatch test must be performed to confirm safety. Immediately before transfusion, ensure blood cells are evenly suspended and no other medications are mixed. Blood type must be accurately confirmed before transfusion, and if discoloration or hemolysis is observed, it should not be used. Transfusion sets with filters should be used to prevent impurities from entering. Care should be taken to avoid injury to the blood storage container, and blood should not be warmed excessively before transfusion. During storage, blood should be kept between 1 degree Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius, and temperature changes should not exceed 2 degrees Celsius.
