This medication helps prevent and continuously treat asthma. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It is recommended to take this medication consistently as it plays an important role in maintaining respiratory health.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet once daily in the evening. Administer 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 2-5 years: Place 4 mg of Montelukast on the tongue to disintegrate and swallow without water once daily. Administer 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder. This is because the artificial sweetener aspartame included in this product is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. The amount of aspartame in this medication should be minimized to below the recommended levels set by WHO, and the maximum daily dosage for adults is established. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or any of its components should not take it. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid taking it. This medication is not for use during acute asthma attacks; in case of acute symptoms, other emergency medications should be used. Even when using this medication for asthma treatment, it is advised to always carry a short-acting inhaled bronchodilator for emergency situations. When reducing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids, it should be done gradually under medical supervision, as sudden changes can be dangerous. During the use of this medication, side effects such as drowsiness, headache, abdominal pain, rash, and respiratory infections may occur; if symptoms are severe, a consultation with a physician is recommended. Notably, in rare cases among patients taking this medication, serious side effects such as vasculitis or eosinophilia may occur, so if there are skin rashes, worsening lung symptoms, heart problems, etc., immediate notification to medical personnel is required. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid taking these drugs while on this medication.
