Summary

Main use
Treatment of erectile dysfunction
Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
As sildenafil, the recommended dose of 25 ∼ 50 mg is administered orally once daily approximately 1 hour before sexual activity; in some cases, it may be administered 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity. The dose may be increased or decreased according to efficacy and tolerability. Immediately after removing this medicine from its individual package, place it on the tongue and allow it to dissolve, then take it with water. Safety and efficacy have not been established when administered without water. The initial dose should be adjusted to 25 mg in the following patients, as sildenafil plasma concentrations may be increased: - Age 65 years or older (AUC increased by 40 %) - Hepatic impairment (cirrhosis: 80 %) - Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or less: 100 %) - Concomitant use with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin (182 %), and saquinavir (210 %)); increased blood concentrations may increase efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions. - In patients receiving concomitant ritonavir, do not exceed 25 mg as the maximum single dose within 48 hours.

Precautions

This drug may cause excessively low blood pressure when taken with nitrate medications that lower blood pressure, so it is essential to inform your physician of any current medications before taking it. Patients with heart conditions should confirm their heart status thoroughly before taking this medication and avoid use if there is a risk to the heart. This drug vasodilates and may temporarily lower blood pressure, so it is particularly important for patients with cardiovascular diseases to exercise caution. Patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypotension, hypertension, heart failure, or arrhythmias must consult a physician before taking this drug. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek immediate medical attention to prevent penile tissue damage and loss of erectile function. This medication may require dose adjustment or may be contraindicated in patients with certain liver diseases or severely impaired kidney function. When taken with specific drugs like Ritonavir, the blood concentration of this medication may significantly increase, necessitating dosage adjustments under a physician's guidance. The artificial sweetener aspartame contained in this medication is unsuitable for patients with phenylketonuria, so those with this condition should avoid it. This drug is not to be used in individuals under 18 years of age or in women, and patients with certain ocular disorders should also avoid its use. Visual disturbances or dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. This medication should not be taken in conjunction with other erectile dysfunction treatments, as the safety and efficacy of such combinations have not been established. Overdosage may worsen symptoms such as headaches, flushing, dizziness, and dyspepsia, so strict adherence to the prescribed dosage is essential. Store out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers.
